Today was the first day back at school for our children and young people, so during yesterday’s morning service, Rev Audrey did a very special blessing of all our backpacks, briefcases, lunch bags, handbags etc.,There were also tags for everyone to attach to their bags, and spares for family and friends. Hopefully, pupils, parents, carers, teachers and everyone else involved, had a very blessed first day back! ...
The choir vestry was a hive of activity on Saturday morning, as the Informed Communion class and their mentors got together to create banners to decorate the church. Each pair talked about what communion meant to them and how the banner could represent those feelings. With lots of fabrics to choose from, some great ideas, and Rev Audrey’s ironing skills, we had a very creative morning!Many thanks to Mary who took most of the photos! ...
This morning we were delighted to welcome lots of visitors who timed it perfectly to help us celebrate Rev Audrey’s first year with us. The time has absolutely flown by, and we are so blessed that she came to join us. Very serendipitously there was leftover cake from the hugely successful Mothers’ Union 150th Anniversary service at St.Mary’s Cathedral yesterday, (well done for all your hard work, Maxine!) so that went down very well at coffee time. Next Sunday, the 16th August, is the day before school starts and so we are having a special service including the Blessing of the Backpacks and Diaries! Bring along your school or work bag, lunch bag, diary, phone, calendar etc., and receive that extra boost to help the term go well. ...
