The Geese are coming………

East Dundartonshire – where we are – is a fabulous place for Geese. The wet meadows towards Kilsyth, and towards Strathblane. The farmlands around the Gadloch. All perfect for wintering Geese, and we get thousands of them. Yesterday I saw my first “skein” of about 200 Geese flying overhead. It is a fabulous winter wildlife spectacle in our area. The geese are not quiet! There is a wild and plaintiff sound to their cries as they fly overhead. I love seeing and hearing the geese.

It’s interesting that the Celtic Church used the goose as the symbol of the Holy Spirit. The wildness. The sounds. The beauty. In the absence  of doves, they are, for me, a perfect picture – one of many – that we can apply to the Holy Spirit in our walk with God.
